What does our Bike Pre-Assembly & Component Installation with Packing and Shipping include?
We build the bike or trike including adding the brakes, installing all components such as derailleur, shifters, cabling, chain, cassette, chain rings, chain guard, seat post, fender installation, pedals, grips; we then lube and tune the bike's shifting; lube and tune brake calibration and brake shoe or pad adjustment to insure no rubbing; lube and tighten chain; and then Quality Check with a Test Ride.
On MOST bikes, you will receive a small tool kit with the necessary tools to complete the assembly of your new bike!
BUT! After completing the QC, we take off pedals, handlebars, and remove front wheel so the bike will fit back into a standard bike shipping box (approximately 60"x 40"x14"). We will then label the box for ground shipping to your destination point.
Why is our Bike Assembly and Component Installation Required for Shipping?
Many better-quality bicycles arrive at the dealer's shop completely disassembled. "Disassembled" means that most all of the bike components are still in their original packaging. This includes Brake levers, brake cables, brake calibers or operating components, shifters, cables, cable covers, derailleurs, and cassettes. It is the the Dealer's responsibility to properly assemble the bike according to manufacturer tolerances and specifications. Brake components installed, lubed and tested; shifters and derailleur components are installed, aligned, tuned and tested; wheels are installed, checked, and trued if needed; handlebars, seat, saddle and pedals are assembled with correct lube and torque tolerances where required. Bike is then inspected and tested before preparing for shipping.
For shipping, handlebars are loosed and set down (or completely removed depending on shipping container (pallet vs. box vs. crate), and pedals are removed. Bike is packaged carefully in or on container for maximum safety during transit. When you received the bike, you will need to align and tighten the handlebar stem mount, and insert and tighten each pedal according to the instructions included with our packaging materials. If you have any issue with those two steps, it's best to take the bike to a certified bike dealer with a qualified mechanic.
*Depending on the bike, we will include a Multi-Tool and Pedal Wrench to assist with your re-attachment of the pedals, handlebar and front wheel.
